WILLIAM ADAMS detail design and construct 6,000 m2 heavy-duty low-shrink high-strength industrial concrete

The Victorian and Tasmanian distributor of CATerpillar earthmoving machinery and the operators of CAT rentals, William Adams, had a requirement to provide an extra heavy duty concrete pavement to take the extreme wear of steel tracked machinery during service and storage.

Together with William Adams management, consulting structural engineers and our concrete manufacturer's laboratory we developed a low-shrink high-strength mix of concrete that, by decreasing shrinkage allowed large concrete pours to be undertaken, hence reducing the need for expansion and contraction joints. Fewer concrete joints minimize the damage caused by the movement of heavy tracked machines, dozers and the like, over them.

Due to the ongoing success of the performance of this pavement we have been involved in the design and construction of another two large pavements for William Adams.
